Can I use a laptop battery and a small solar panel for a mini solar generator? Answered

I have an old (but still good) laptop battery and a small 2 watt solar panel.  The idea is to create a small solar generator with usb outputs to charge phones, mp3 players, and run small usb devices such as lamps and fans.  I do know I can go buy bigger batteries, but I wanted to use this laptop battery for something.
