Can any intangible thing manipulate electrical flow? Answered

Like is there anything non-material, like a magnetic field which when brought near a wire or by any other way stops or allows the electric flow through it? And I am not talking about a changing magnetic field producing a current in the wire.

A MOSFET gate though electrically isolated
can actually pinch off current flow through the transistor
by its physical nearness to the internal current flow channel.

Heat increases the resistance of most materials. This will limit electric flow.
