I have a webcam that ive taken the ir fitler out of, whats the best way of adding some ir leds powered from the camera?

How many 1.7 5mm leds would i be abkle to connect to a standard usb webcamera then? if im limited to 5v then its not alot right?

. If you're using USB, remember you are limited to a total of 500mA on each port.

1: Open the camera 2: Find the Positive and Ground traces 3: Drill holes for the LEDs 4: Position the LEDs 5: Solder them in parallel 6: Depending on the voltage and total amperage of the LEDs, use ohms law to find the resistor you need for the power 7: Wire the resistor to the positive trace and to the positive lead of the LED array. Do the same for the Ground 8: Put it back together

I'm guessing strip back the USB cable, identify the power leads and connect the LEDs in parallel to the camera.

Actually, this is more "bump" than "help".
