Can you add grip tape to a skateboard/longboard with already clear grip tape? Answered

Just wanted to know so that it would stick and stay on or if i have to sand it??

just buy a skate/longboard gripskin and put it on there.

You don't need to sand it, but you should remove the old tape before putting down the new tape.
Get a heat gun or a torch and carefully warm the old tape and it should peel off pretty easily. It will leave a lot of the stickum on the board but just cover right over it with the new grip tape. I've used that method several times with commercial stair tread grip tape.

If it's spray on grip, you can sand it LIGHTLY by hand. That's the only way to do it.

You probably ought to get off the old tape or atleast get it down to clean tape so that the new tape is not trying to stick to the dirty rough surface.

If you can't then if you wrap the tape completely around the board it might hold.
