. Most small amps are reasonably hi-fi* if you run them within specs. The problem is, in order to get twice the sound you have to pump out ten times the power. Ie, you need 50W to sound twice as loud as 500mW. The more watts, the more power supply you need - it quickly gets large and heavy by pocket standards.
. Use headphones or earbuds.
*Depending on just how high you want your hi-fi.

. Oops! That should be 5W to be twice as loud as 500mW, but you get the point.

Check out the Altoids tin amp. Tell the author to learn to use the macro on his/her camera while you're there. :)
