Car speakers go silent when connecting ground cable Answered

I been trying to put some LEDs in my car that can pulse to music. I followed this instructable;
https://www.instructables.com/id/Pimped-Out-LED-Car-Sound-System/#step1

My only problem is when I connect the ground cable all the speakers from the car turn silent, the only way I can get the LEDs to flash is by not connecting the ground cable at all.

Anyone know how I can fix this?

Hmm dang I didn't figure my problem would be from a shortage of power, so I guess if a I put a lot of LEDs in my car, like around 10-15, it would actually make it worst?

If there's one thing I've learned to be true here, is that there are good instructables, and there are not so good instructables. In this case, there was another member who had problems and the author didn't seem able to help out in correcting the problem. To me, that would be a red flag. I know that most car stereos have 2 ground wires, and the introduction of this circuit (which I understand utilizes part of the car's power as well as an external power source) is interfering. Since there are many variables in why this isn't working properly, I would honestly take your car to an automotive AV expert that has the tools and knowledge to correct this problem and get it working properly. The last thing you want to have happen is an improperly wired addition that might short out the whole car's electrical system and leave you stranded along the side of a road. I'd bet the towing fees will be much more than paying an AV expert to fix this now.
