Coil/Electromagnet Answered

Is there any difference between a coil and electromagnet? So, is saying that a dynamic speaker has coil as correct as saying that it has an electromagnet?

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: an "electromagnet" typically has the coil fixed quite firmly to (or at least wrapped tightly round) the iron core.  A speaker coil has a core that can move freely within the coil to make the speaker cone vibrate.

(Either the core is fixed, and the coil is fixed to the cone, or the coil is fixed in place and the core is fixed to the cone.)
