Has anyone had any experience with Linux We are getting interested but dont know just how to get started. We understand you can run two systems but would like to format a hard drive and try Linux on an older machine. Would appreciate which kernel to down load. We would like to use it for Email, web browsing, word processing, and pictures. Any comments would be appreciated. Ross

Dont munky with screan saver and dont load programs that dont want to.

Kubuntu is a more (in my opinion) user-friendly version of Ubuntu.

Yeah, I use an Ubuntu 9.04 O.S. and IMHO, it outclasses most other Linux distros and absolutely smokes any Windows O.S currently on the market. Here is a link to Distro Watch and lists the 10 top Linux O.S. out there.

This is a good place to get started, and remember, LInux is free, so you can experiment with various versions to see which suits your needs and abilities.
