Concerning the image library.....I can see my pics now, but I can not add tags to ones uploaded without a tag Answered

I thought in the past, I could update tags for the pictures and add tags when I hadn't put one in at upload time.

Now I am unable to find a way to do this anymore.

Is this a planned thing, or did something need to be dropped in order to do the update you all did?
It would be nice, now that my library is over 600 pics, to be able to go directly to some of the early ones without having to spend a good 5+ minutes scrolling back to the start of the pack.

And for those that are similarly tagged but not exactly the same, it would be nice to be able to update them so I could categorize them better under single tags.

Thanks.

You can add tags (keywords) as follows:

1. go to the view page for the image (either by clicking on it in your library, or clicking on the small square with an i in it at the top left of any large size photo)
2. on the left sidebar is a box called KEYWORDS. It contains a link, "+ Add keywords".
3. click that and enter as many keywords as you like, or remove existing ones by clicking the [x] that's now next to each one

There's no way to attach keywords to more than one file at a time except during upload. But hopefully this will help out.

Thanks very much for all of your replies, Rachel; I appreciate it! In this followup to Goodhart, you wrote, "go to the view page for the image (either by clicking on it in your library ..." This is the part that I think isn't working for myself or Goodhart.

In the (at least, in my) image library (You -> Image Library) the images themselves aren't active links. There's a small red x which I can click on to delete the image, and when I run my mouse over it, there's a pop-up window with the filename, date, and (empty :-) tags.

The only way I can get to the "image view" page is if I've put the picture into some published thing (forum topic, I'ble, etc.). In fact, I can't get to image view at all for images included in comments.

Is there a chance that Admin's have a different interface than the masses?

Nope, the link to the view file page seems to have gotten removed. I will check to see if that was done for a reason; if not I'll get it back in the next release.

However, the image name, below the thumbnail, IS a link to the view file page.

That works, yes, thank you.

D'oh! I can't believe I didn't find that when I was looking at this a couple of days ago. I see the filenames, and they do link to the view image page, and you can modify the keywords (a.k.a. tags) by adding or removing them. Also, I see that the keywords are now displayed in the "mouse-over" pop-up frame. Thanks very much for taking your time on this!

I've had the same bug lately too. Only I had it worse at one point, it used to be I couldn't access any of my images at all for a while. Now I just can't see them in my library, either.

Oh no, still? I thought we fixed that a few days ago.

Sorry, I jumped the gun a bit....kelseymh is correct. I can not "open" a picture from my library, either.

It looks to me like there are several bugs with the Image Library interface.

1) You can't change tags, as you've reported.

2) More generally, you can't edit any of the information associated with an image, such it's "filename" (not the hash name used internally by I'bles)

3) If you mouse over an image in your library, it shows no tags at all, even for images you've selected via the "Tags" pulldown menu.

4) The pulldown menu for filtering on "All Instructables" is empty.

Hi again kelseymh! 1) see my reply to Goodhart 2) when on the image view page, click the green EDIT link in the top left. There you can change the image name and add a description to it. 3) This is a bug that's fixed for the next release 4) You found another one! I'll put it on the fix list.
