Considering buying a new Windows 7 laptop. Any ideas what/which I should buy?
Needs to be windows 7. Any ideas? If at all possible I need one maybe somewhere under $400.

IBM/Lenovo S10-2 or S10-3.

It's like a large netbook.

For the price you'll only get a netbook. Great if that's what you want but they don't run Windows 7 that well (whatever the sales person tells you). Samsung NC10 is the one I'd rate. It's great.

What price could I get a nice laptop (not netbook) for?

$500-$600.

I personally would recommend buying a used laptop off of Ebay. They don't cost all that much, and you could easily add some more ram (Anywhere from $15 to $60), for less than it would cost to get a brand new laptop. Windows 7 costs around $100, so in total it would probably cost less than a new netbook.
Some Suggestions:
HP Laptop
Dell Laptop
Cheaper Dell Latitude (My School Just sold around a couple hundred after we got new laptops...)
Toshiba Satellite (Comes with Windows 7)
Hope I helped!

Type this phrase into a Google search, "Win 7 laptop under $400"
You'll get quite a few hits.

under 400 you'll have a hard time finding something good enough to run home premium - you'll end up with win7 lite (or whatever its called) -- very stripped down and only good for surfing/some video/not a lot more.

Well you're not going to get much for that; go shopping, see what you can afford and come back with a choice. We don't know where you live or can buy.
