Contest question
In the info/rules for contests, it appears to me that it is saying that votes from the "Instructable's community" do NOT count towards who is chosen as the winner. Is that correct?

The votes select finalists, but then a panel of judges selects the winner(s) from the finalists without looking at the votes cast.

+1 Which is a good way of managing contests... otherwise some people may just get everyone they know to vote for them in an effort to win.

Getting people you know to vote for you is fine (I am always certain to get a minimum of 3 votes), as is publicising your projects via social media or blogs.
What is not fine is the creation of fake accounts purely to cast votes for certain projects. Fortunately, HQ have ways and means of detecting such fraud, and part of the reason the numbers of votes received by projects was hidden was to prevent members' embarrassement when numbers of votes went down after fake votes were removed.
