Conversion? Answered

We would like to convert .pps to a video format so that we could play it on the TV, as it will accept .avi

In PowerPoint 2010 (maybe even 2007 as well), there is an option to make a movie with your presentation. Click "file" (or the office logo in 2007), click "save and send" and there should be something in there about making a movie. Otherwise you will have to export the slides and use a video editing software such as moviemaker as rickharris said.

.pps is a power point slide show.

Why not copy the slides individually into Moviemaker (free with windows) and the export as your AVI??
