Public television - no, really! The 'Create' channel rocks, especially when they have the show 'Make' - and of course the MakeZine website, and this site, the hardware store, the fabric store, a walk in the woods, music, etc, etc, etc.

I'd have to say my Grandfather started it. He was an upholsterer and wood worker. He subscribed to Popular Mechanics so I got all the old issues. Gave me my first science fair kit, AM broadcaster from Radio Shack. I had to figure it out on my ow...n as he had no idea how to troubleshoot it when it did not work which totally blew my mind as I thought Grandpa knew all !!!

I get inspired by my children. They have such wonderfully inquisitive minds. Remember what it was like to not worry about bills, insurance, employment, mortgages, etc.? I bet you were more creative then also.

I am inspired by my dissatisfaction with stuff that was not made with me and my needs in mind. I am motivated to create when things do not "fit" right in some way or another. Then, I am thrilled by the creative process and may be obsessed for days until I find a good design or maybe sleep on it and wake up with an elegant solution. Whew! long winded!

I am inspired by the constant need to beautify a civilization which almost fights back the goodness we put out as fast as we can create it.

As you might be able to tell from my avatar, directors who create movies of epic proportions, like Neill Blomkamp, inspire me. Also, I get random spurts of inspiration from completely random things.

Teenagers, yes, I know many people have nothing good to say about them, but their fresh expectant outlook, ability to adapt quickly, and black and white view of the world makes me wonder if I'M the one who makes things too complicated. They give me hope for our future.
