Cutting perpendicular to the surface? Answered

I am able to get straight cuts, but I noticed that sometimes I am not able to achieve cuts exactly perpendicular to the work surface. I feel my circular saw tends to go up and down resulting in the change in the degree of the blade to the work surface. How can I eliminate that? Please let me know if my question isn't clear enugh.

If I understand your question, it sounds like the plate of the circular saw isn't making good contact with the wood while you are cutting. If the saw moves up and down, even slightly, while you are cutting it can result in the saw cutting out of square.

When cutting, go slow and make sure you're making good contact between the saw plate and the wood. I hope that answers your question. Good luck!
