DIY Costume Mute Rainbow 6 siege Answered

My son wants to construct a costume for Halloween: Mute from Rainbow 6 Seige. Some of the costume items are easy like Cargo pants, ski goggles, combat boots, etc. Do any of you have suggestions for the gas mask, tactical vest and details. Thanks for any suggestions :-)

I’d recommend the Outgreek M50 gas mask it’s like the real Avon gas mask exept it’s just a fan instead of a real filter and it’s easier to breath www.amazon.com/outgreek//m50 gasmask\\https//gas mask

For the gas mask I'd consider a respirator, the kind used by painters and builders, usually available from DIY hardware stores. You may not find one in the right colour but you can always paint it black. Another option is to make one from scratch out of paper mache. A bit of duct tape cut to the right size will add the X to the front.

For the tactical vest, how's your sewing? I'd take two regular vests and sew them together, but line the inside with a stiffer material to create a bullet proof vest feel/thickness. Sew some velcro straps over the shoulders. Cut the middle of the vest and add the zip. For the detail (such as the pouches) find some old fabric glasses cases, camera cases, phone cases, binocular cases etc. Ideally get black ones, or paint or dye black. I'd check charity shops, flea markets and car boot sales for those kind of things to find then as cheap as possible. Put a real walkie-talkie in one of the pouches for added realism.

For anyone not familiar with Mute, I've added a photo :-)

Shop around for some baggy blue work pants with elasticated ankles. The (X) detail on the shins can be stitched on. Put something bulky like a pack of playing cards in your pockets to re-create the box shaped bulges.

Get a wide faux-leather (or real) belt, link a few carabiners together and fasten to the belt.

Find a strap with a 'side-squeeze clip', maybe an old backpack. Use the same principle as the vest to attach some pouches to it (old glasses case, bincoular case etc.)

To complete the look you need to find something that looks like a harness/strap. Could use the straps that come on some types of luggage, or the elasticated strapping that is used inside seats and sofas(couches). Ideally it would be dark green, but I'm sure you'd get away with blue or black straps.

You can buy a large majority from his gear on amazon and airsoft sites. You can buy the m50 mask on amazon for less then $50. Tactical navy blue BDUs work well for his clothing, and a cheap tactical vest is fine, but if you want to replicate his pouches and exact gear, you will need to get a black molle vest and buy the pouches separately.
