DIY Halloween 2007 Contest is Closed! Answered

OK, all of the entries are in and our judges are going to be sifting through all of the Instructables and photos and videos to see who will be winning the trip to Maker Faire 2008 as well as all of the other awesome prizes. Personally, I want a set of those knives. That would make all of our cooking so much easier.

We promise to have another contest next year- entry rules will stay the same, in that anything past the close of this contest will be eligible for next year's contest!

I really wish I would have been able to do more this year. I didn't even go to a party or see any trick-or-treaters! :( But I bought TONS of Halloween decorations on clearance, and I will be really going all out next year. And I have ideas for costumes, too. The other entries have given me lots of ideas. :D

Hmph, I really wish I could find the time and space to do "something" this year. Alas, I don't think it is in the cards....but who knows...

Isn't it crazy how cheap all of that stuff is the next day? It goes from precious goods to a waste of retail space in just a few hours.

Strangely enough, I want second place. There are a few things from sciplus that I would love to have =]

Any idea on when to expect results? Good luck sorting through them all!

Unfortunately I'm not able to finish my latest projects in time- bummer! Two nasty colds and a 9 month old son that refuses to sleep have taken their toll..... There are some really great entries this year!!

I'm doomed! Dozens and dozens of outstanding entries (the cakes!), I haven't seen so many top-class Instructables in one place before - there's no way my pinata costume will win. Ah well. Maybe Christmas.

There still could very well be a Thanksgiving contest, don't forget about it.

Ah, yes. Thanksgiving: America's only day off. Celebrating ... something ... ~~Indians~~ Native Americans were involved... gave each other turkeys and the pox... Many Americans celebrate the holiday by spending 24 hours on public transport, away from their families.

You'll notice that it is now referred to as "Turkey Day" here--We no longer bother with that whole "giving thanks" gambit, we just use it as an excuse to take the day off and eat poultry.

Turkey Day

I've heard kids calling Easter "Chocolate Egg day". Sad.

I find that an interesting post (not wishing to start anything here but I feel compelled to ask). Why is that sad? Easter, originally a pagan holiday also got integrated with Pesach or Passover, but the emblems of fertility were later instilled into the tradition (eggs, peeps, rabbits, the sacrifice of new born children to Aestar which was later dropped, etc). I think it is sad that the holiday has been turned from a somber one of refection into a denigrated time to make youngin's sick to the stomach.

Sad in the teen derogatory usage - these kids know nothing of the history of the holiday, they just know that their relatives will buy them a lot of chocolate for no particular reason.

I understand, kind of like Xmas being the day the child gets what he has begged for, and been (publicly) good for the past 3 weeks for.

"Celebrating ... something ... Indians Native Americans were involved... gave each other turkeys and the pox... Many Americans celebrate the holiday by spending 24 hours on public transport, away from their families." :D Gave me a good laugh. So true.

Exactly :D BTW: Apparently, not all Indians are offended by the term -- it shows how stupid the explorers were ;-)

The local bars just had their costume parties on Saturday. That way they can be open an hour later. So we had our pre-bar party last night... still a lot of messes to clean up but i was able to take a few pictures and write up one instructable so far.
