Did you first come here on Sunday Nov. 4? Where did you hear about Instructables?
On Sunday Nov. we had a pretty decent spike in traffic. Most of those new visitors were either coming directly to Instructables or searching for Instructables in a search engine. If you first visited this last Sunday, welcome!, and would you mind tell me how you heard about Instructables? The site must have received some print or TV-based press, but we're having a devil of time figuring out where. Thanks!

I think I figured it out: The Blu-Ray thingy
I've read at *least* 10 stories on it.... its been on every blog in my feeds, and its been popular on digg twice, I think...

That wasn't it. I've already accounted for that traffic, and I can see where people checking out the blue laser are coming from. It was a massive increase of people typing "Instructables" into a search engines or their browser directly, which means they saw Instructables somewhere not on already online.

Thats... bizzare...
Google Trends confirms it!
That USB breath thing was re-brought-out... although that was featured on blogs, so people would click links... maybe a slew of dead links forcing people to google?

In the most recent issue WIRED magazine, there was an article about the HowToons book, and the release. Maybe some people researched Saul Griffith and it brought them here.

I think Instructables is more related -- considering he's *very* high at Squid (not sure the position, though...)

I found it when I searched DIY weekend projects or something like that, then I came to instructables. Best site EVAR!

Was there a spike just in traffic, or also in new memberships? That is pretty interesting. I've been on digital editing sites before, one that got mentioned by Kim Komando, and that day, the memberships and views went off the charts! Though, I thought people were supposed to notify you if they talk about you. Still, it is very intriguing!

We were also on the Kim Komando email newsletter a while back. They did give us a heads-up and we had a good day for traffic.

I did a little search, and there seems to be a lot of "articles" out there. It might be difficult to pinpoint one.
