Diy o-ring with glue-gun Answered

for emergencies, but not only: make your own o-ring. use a hot glue gun and some soft glue-stick. look for a round object more or less the size of the o-ring you need. form a steady bead of hot glue around it. wait for it to set. peel it off. if necessary: smoothen down the edges somehow (sanding-paper, file, etc). feedback appreciated. thank you.

toga dan: How does this do in practice? Success?

xerra: never used it with much pressure on the line... did a few for garden-suff (off the grid, water coming from tank... gravity god)

anyhow, if i want a quick n dirty fix i usually just go for a piece of inner-tube (bike, car, etc): cut a hole a big smaller than thread, push it over thread, nice tide fit, trim off margins

thanks for asking

Make a big blob, flatten it, peel it off when cooled.
Have the thickness like the ring you need, cut the ring out.
Problem with hot glue is that it neither offers the required flexibility nor elasticity.
Without those it is prone to early failure.
A box of 100 or 200 rings of various sizes goes for about 10 bucks at the discounter....
