Do not push - Laptop HDD Answered

Has anyone ever seen the little sticker on a laptop hard disk drive that says Do Not Push?

Guess why?

The platter is made of glass?!?!?! (I figured this out by being my normal "Do the opposite of what the sticker says" self)

Wanna see?

Oh, your HDD was probably newer, Mine was out of an old IBM one, The laptop was about 1 inch high with the lid closed.

Well, It was an old laptop so they didn't have really small parts back then. Well, It is "portable" It just needs to be next to a powerpoint (It's still easier than carrying around a desktop..

. It makes sense when you consider that they are easy to make (interesting how they do it, but I don't have a link handy), glass is cheap, ... and the fact that HDDs can only handle limited Gs due to the heads, anyway. They gave you a warning! ;)
