Do you need a diode? Answered

Do you need to add a diode in between the solar and the battery to prevent power going the other way (from the battery to the solar cell somehow)? :)

I believe that's what a charge controller is for. It acts as the diode.
My system is like this: Panels > Charge Controller > Battery.
The charge controller regulates the flow direction and also provides a readout on the battery's level.
I think if you research charge controllers -- there's your answer. Solar on!

I'm not sure, but i've saw footage of solar panels emitting infrared light, when a currente is applied, in doubt is always a good idea to add a diode, they're very cheap.
