Does your vehicle have to be a deisel to be converted to run on used cannola oil?About how much does it cost to convert? Answered

I have a 1990 mazda protege and i was wondering if it could be converted to run on used cannola oil. can that be done. how much would it cost? how easy is that stuff to find?

Yes diesel. For straight oil running, people recommend thinning with white spirit, being sure to have good fuel filters and replacing them more regularly.
Otherwise I think thematthatter is hinting at transesterification to biodiesel

The vehicle doesn't require any physical conversion, but remember that diesel fuel also lubricates your fuel system - put bad stuff into a modern diesel and you can take the whole engine out of action.

Is there anyway to convert a normal car into a biodisesel fuelled vehicle i am not to sure on the differences between the two.

It has to be diesel, and if you dont want to clog your injectors you need to remove the glycerin from the oil, but other than that you pour it into the tank.

and you might have to replace the hoses b/c the biodiesel can eat through it or something like that.....
