Doubts... Answered

So some how i'm gonna be part of a temporary band starting tomorrow. i was asked if i would play bass for some people and i was like sure, whatever. But the event we will hopefully be performing at is in about a month. We haven't even practiced yet. So i'm having some doubts as to whether we'd just be wasting our time. Anyone got any advice.

having winged many concerts in my youth, i think you probably will be ok but the key to resolving issues with people is communication. people asked you to be in their band to help them out... you should voice your concern with them. you dont want to make a fool out of yorself nor do you want to be in a band that makes fools out of itself! if it is important to you, and it sounds like it is, then you need to communicate it; this advice stands for all your endeavors in life. cheers :-) WL

it depends - if they are original songs, you should definitely be suspicious, but if they are cover songs, go with it. if you've been playing long enough, you'll pick up the hook pretty quick even if you don't know the song

well..... it depends on how good you are and how good the others are.... it depends on what kind of impression you want to make... it depends on what songs you are playing. if you are all decent mucisians... my best advice is know your song. know it inside and out. play it along with the CD. if you know your part....and everyone else knows theres....you can rock it out even if its your first time together. if your playing originals...... get crackalackin'.... or your screwed

F*ck it man just do it. I play bass myself and a few years ago a few friends and I started a band. Played our first show a week after starting the band and we destroyed man...granted we practiced every day. We had 3 songs, just split the set with another band I was playing for. So who knows, you could have some fun.
