Eric's Big Idea! Answered

Ads and such usually appear off to the side of forum pages, and instructables, most are scams (haha), but occasionally they are something worth checking into.
Below is the ad I saw on the side of a forum topic, and decided to follow it.
I got the address for Big Think, which is, from what I gathered, a plethora of ideas for many different things to better the nation.

Below is Eric Wilhelm talking about Instructable's impact on education.

BTW, there is a typo on the second link..
:D

He sounds nervous. Probably pulled out that speech five minutes before the shoot. Explains all the cuts.

I don't know, I quite like fairly aggressive cuts in monologues. Bre Pettis is a great example of this- rather than lots of pauses and verbal filler that you get with one-take-wonders (except extremely heavily rehearsed ones), it can be snappy, doesn't ramble and generally keeps the pace up.

I'd be tempted to guess, listening to that speech more closely, that maybe there was something like a list of points from the Big Think people to cover in the speech and it was written towards those- imagine how you would reply to

  • Who are you?
  • What is Instructables?
  • How do you try to impact education?
  • Why does your method work?
  • How can it be applied to mainstream education?

Go play the video and read this list as you listen to it, if you like.

Of course, I'm taking a stab in the dark but there is one person who can probably tell you more...

I, personally, love it done bre pettis style where they quick jump from clip to clip abruptly.

So do I. I was :( when I found out weekend projects had changed from Bre to Kip K. I like Kip's work, but I much prefer Bre's style of video, and given that I am unlikely to make most of their projects I mostly watched them for the video anyway.

About what? I am not wrong! So Eric gets nervous-so does just about everyone else on the planet! I get nervous every time I have to give a talk in front of 50 people-and I've been doing that for 11 years now! It's normal!

It doesn't have to be nervousness however, it could just be a lot of things.

He always seems a bit nervous in all these videos. He can't handle the spotlight. He's a down-to-earth honest builder who likes to work in a small workshop surrounded by twinkies.
