Thanks for all your feedback. I teach middle school and I am always looking for ideas to increase skills in my classroom by sharing a variety of tools.
The purpose of this group is to make a collection of instructables that may be useful for school teaching, or that may be reproduced by pupils and students as science-fair or classroom projects ...
Yes, welcome to Instructables: where nearly anything is possible :-)
Browse the forums, peruse the actual instructables, and make yourself at home.
Any questions....just ask, and you will be inundated by answers LOL
Thanks for responding. My sister is interested in starting a blog for educational dialogue among teachers and other staff members. Would you recommend instructables or another blog host?
Hmm, I am not sure what exactly you would be looking for; here we have the "instructables" section, which lists instrunction on a wide variety of subjects, and we have this discussion forum.
The instructables are not as loosely organized as most blogs.
Actually, it is primarily young folk, with a smattering of a variety of older guys n gals, some are educators, and some just have things to share.
The range from very simple ideas (optical illusions) to complex (CNC machines and 3D printing) is a bit overwhelming at first :-)
Hi Chris - some of us (coughs politely) are teachers, but the vast majority are in education at some level.
The best way to get a feel for the site is to use the random search (AKA "spin the bottle") to see what turns up. Otherwise, pick on a few regular posters to the forums and check their profiles (just click on their names) to see what they've made.
Being an average 19-35 year old married white male and therefore almost totally without rights, money or hair i can say this site allows me to spend time amongst a wide variety of inovaters and makers of many varied skills.
I recommend this site to as many as i can!
Thats actually me as a little boy wondering about the infinite complexity of the universe from inside my mums washing basket......
As a boy i used to think as a boy, act as a boy.
Now I'm a man i've become even more confused!
You don't need to buy canned children, I've got a book that tells you how you can MAKE your very own little ones. (now THAT would be an interesting instructable!) LOL
Instructables offers a unique format for reaching out to others and sharing what you've done and how to do it. I would suggest that your sister use both instructables and another blogger. You see, instructables is not the best place to have something that you expect people to visit regularly. Instead, she could run a conventional blog, and then make instructables on how to do all the stuff she talks about, and link to them from the blog.
