External switch box that attches via master internal HD cables to switch between master HD's Answered

I have an idea, spawned from my resent switch to linux and the fear of still needing XP at times. anyone have any ideas on how to make 2 seperate hard drives (don't want partitions and crap I want 2 seperate HD's) to attach externally and be able to switch betwen them just by hitting a switch or something?

...you could always plug them both in at the same time ;-) When you install Ubuntu, or most other linuxes, when it installs GRUB, it will setup an entry for Windows.

. All you need is a 3-way switch to swap power between the drives.

what I want basically is the IEE cable or whatevet and the power cable to come out of the comp and attach to some kind of "box" that then attaches to 2 or more Hard drives.......... then I flick a switch before start up to select the drive I want to boot from

. This is the longest data cable I could find (19" seems to be the most common).
. For power, just run 18-16ga wire to your switch and drives.
