Fibre optic tree? Answered

I want to run my Christmas fibre optic tree without the motor.  Would I have to alter anything, its lamp is 15w 12v?

Change the old halogen lamp for a modern LED and you'd be good to go. The old lamps get too hot, and we did it to ours this year.

I would worry the plastic color wheel could melt if it stops over the lamp with a dark color.

I had one, not for a tree though and when the motor failed it took only a few hours to stink...
Also keep in mind that without the disk spinning you will only get static light as it reaches the fibres with no change - quite boring actually...
