Fungus problem? Answered

I have a small 5 gallon aquarium in a cupboard and there is fungus all around the wood in the cupboard! How do I stop this fungus from growing there. I also have a big aquarium for almost 5 years now whose hood is always very damp, but never had fungus on it. Anyone knows why this is happening with the small one?(And there is no difference in placing. They are both side by side)

Don't use bleach, just use a good soap and water.

Then paint with a good mold and fungus retardant paint.

Last air flow, moisture from the tank is being trapped in the cupboard you need air flow to take the moisture away.

Plus 1 on the bleach. BUT be careful to use the correct dilution. If your solution is to strong it can destroy the paint and the fumes can get into the water. So a mild solution just strong enough to sterilse. You may have to repeat it on a regualr basis.

The fungus was probably aready there on the wood or paper. It's only had a chance to grow now that there is a good amount of moisture from the tank. Keep the cupboard well light. Clean it out with bleach and you'll kill what's already there.
