Fusion 360 is not open source? Answered

What is the alternative? FreeCAD? Has anyone tried it? If yes, experiences?

I've never used it myself, but it seems to have a decent set of tools. The reviews I've read are mixed, but the main complaint seems to be that it's unstable and there are a lot of crashes. Fusion is going to release a browser-only version in the near future if you're having compatibility issues. As far as open-source, FreeCAD seems to be the best option.

For what it's worth, FreeCAD is not used in the design or engineering industries at all as far as I know. If you're strictly a hobbyist it won't make much of a difference though.
