A colorful bird would be nice?? How big should I get th cage?? I have a studio style apartment

I'm gonna agree with cockatiel. My wife has had one about 2 years and is easy to take care of and aren't pricey at all.

Pigeon, they free (if you're quick), smart, will never get lost and are gentle. As far as colorful, I guess hair dye would work, if you want a pigeon with an attitude.

Look into a cockatiel. I've had one for 8 years. Very friendly, whistles Jingle Bells, says hello. He's in a 15"x19"x20" cage.

Hi, As an alternative, you might consider hanging bird-feeders outside your apartment. The birds are free (in two senses), they die somewhere else, and you get a variety. (I'm surprised Kiteman didn't suggest this)

The best way to choose your bird is to actually visit a reputable local pet shop - you will be able to see the actual birds, get an idea of their calls, look at cages and visualise them in your apartment. If they cannot help you directly, they will be able to put you in touch with local specialist breeders.
