HP iPAQ - what can I do with it? Answered

I've got an HP Ipaq HX2100 gathering dust - I used to use it for reading ebooks on, but now use my blackberry. I was going to put it on ebay, but it wont sell for much, so I'm looking for idea's for what I could use it for. Doesn't have wifi on it so it kinda limits the options I suppose. Any idea's? Cheers, Pha3dr0n

I have an HP IPAQ. Should I just take to the recycling drop off?

Does it have video capability? Will it play music? You could watch movies or youtube videos, listen to music, draw on it with the stylus...all kinds of thinkgs!

Depending on the price, seeing as how it has no wifi.

I live in Scotland, so the cost you would have to pay for postage wouldn't make it worth it - sorry. made an error on the model number - its an HX2190.

The postage for stuff isn't that bad, we used to have a fairly large Ebay business in antique lighters, the postage isn't as bad as you'd think... Where in Scotland are you, my mum's from banchory near aberdeen, now living in northern Ireland...

Dumbarton, near Glasgow. Truly hate this country - try to get to NYC and Miami a few times a year, and waiting for the london embassy to get back to me about my citizenship application (my mothers American).

Hmm I've been sick of Northern Ireland for a long time, first step over the water then go for somewhere... but where?

University, however I may go after college depending on job situation, if I get the job I'm going for now I'll be able to work anywhere in the world with an internet connection...

:D

But that's a fairly involved option. Alternatively you could sell it to me as I'm in the mainland UK...? :) If you google around for "ipaq hacks" you will probably find more stuff to do with it.

Managed to get the wifi working ok by updating the ROM, just trying to work out how to browse my LAN with it. Probably going to sell it though :-(

Try hacking Linux onto it, or as guyfrom7up said, interface it with a robot, or maybe a DSLR for some kind of controller.... :/

I've got a SDIO WLAN card that I could never get to work with it, but I might give it another shot so I can use it to vnc into my Meedio rig. Mind you, if I can get the WLAN working, it should open more possibilities. 'fraid I dont have any robots, and have no idea about DSLR's, but you have me curious so I'll have a google when I get time. Cheers, Pha3dr0n

*hypnotic voice* You will give the iPAQ to the penguin.
