Handling accented characters Answered

Writing accented characters in an instructable ends up with the questionmark-diamond failed unicode character. So far not a big issue. However, writing accented characters with the &code; construction works, but on a second edit of the same text, uses the actual unicode characters, and thus on a third edit is reverted back down to the ugly diamonds again.

Yup. It's known, and we (Nacho and I in particular) have brought it up a few times. See my warning at the top of Step 8 of the Text Formatting I'ble Nacho mentioned.

This bug is a substantial impediment to having proper multilingual support on the Instructables Web site.

Thanks! I saw the I'ble, but I must have overlooked the warning.

. This is a known bug. It gave us fits when we were writing Instructables Text Formatting. I started using a local text processor (don't use a word processor unless you set it to ASCII) for editing and then copy/paste'd into Ibles.
