Happenings 1/10/08 Answered

There are some cool events happening in the Bay Area right now. Today we are highlighting hot dogs and re-purposed trash, but there is always plenty to go out do.

Frankenart Drop-in Arterrarium
Tonight there is a drop-in arterrarium at Frankenart Mart. What's an arterrarium? Well, as best as we can tell, it's an event where you make art with real live people and then add it to the show in the Frankenart gallery right before your very eyes! And what ties this whole operation together you may ask? Hot dogs of course.

Thursday, January 10th, 2008 6 - 9pm
515 Balboa Street, San Francisco, CA

Finders Keepers Gallery Opening Reception
Creativity Explored artists turn trash into treasure in a new exhibition of sculptural works made from cast-off wood, metal, wire, and other found objects.

Thursday, January 10, 2008, 7 - 9 pm
3245 16th Street, San Francisco CA

We need your help!
If there is an event that you think the Instructables community would be interested in your area let us know about it so we can put it on our Community Blog! First, create a forum post about it that let's people know what and where the event is, like the one I just made above, and then, once you've gotten in published in the forums, send me a PM letting me know it's up and that you want to add it to the Community Blog and I'll make it happen.

Next weekend, the Crucible is holding their Hot Couture - A Fusion of Fire & Fashion event.

"Join The Crucible as we celebrate our Ninth Anniversary with a blazing showcase of wearable art from Bay Area designers, awe-inspiring fire performances, aerial artistry, and fire arts demonstrations."

And a blurb about the Crucible itself:

"Located in Oakland, California, The Crucible is a non-profit educational collaboration of arts, industry and community. Founded in 1999 by a small group of artists, The Crucible is the Bay Area's only nonprofit sculpture studio, educational foundry and metal fabrication shop offering classes in fine and industrial arts. From cast iron to neon, and from large-scale public art to the most precise kinetic sculpture, The Crucible is fast becoming the best-equipped public industry & arts education facility on the West Coast.

The vision of The Crucible is to be one of the premiere art centers in the country: a place where art thrives, is accessible, and inspires everyone in their everyday lives. It is a place where forges roar, sparks fly, glass bends, molten metals fuse and pour, clay and cement take on form, neon glows, and creativity explodes!"
