Has anyone built their own old school "Aurora Clock", or know how? Answered

My Dad and I have been interested in building our version of this clock. We got as far as it uses the property of birefringence and pieces of birefringent plastic or polarized filters to create the different colors, but we never got anywhere with testing. Anyone know the specific materials it uses or the best way to go about building one?

Get a clock driver out of 'any' old clock, and instead of hands, mount clear plastic faces that you can mount the polarizers onto.
