Help with LED's Answered

Hi everyone - this is my first post so bear with me

i'm looking to create my own instructable in the form of a clock but need a little help.

I want to create an LED backlit analogue clock (so just the face lights up) but i want it so that the backlight only comes on between certain times (essentially during the hours of darkness) with the ability to change the times the light comes on and goes off. I'm pretty new to electronics so don't really know where to start with this one but if anyone could give me any tips / pointers on how this could be done i'd be most grateful

cheers in advance :o)

This may not be what you have in mind, but wouldn't it be easier to use a light sensor?

hey

thanks for the quick response. i thought about using a light sensor but with the clock being indoors it would always be light as i would have the lights on at home during the night :o)

Ah... but would the light be as bright as daylight?

good point, not entirely sure.

suppose its worth testing, light sensors are not that expensive so maybe i should give that a try.

actually - can you get wireless light sensors? i could leave the light sensor right in the window and that would work a treat
