0FoolishSage 8 years ago ReplyUpvote There are roughly a bazzillion species of algae, each with their own pro's and con's. All of them produce lipids (oil) and a hand full are edible. The trick is to isolate and culture the right one in the right conditions. Try the Aquatic Species Program. They studied a bunch of algae types. Several companies provide a host of reactor types and could probably provide information over food safe algae. Always remember Google is your friend!
