How and what Powder to Polish Rock containing Agate or Quartz
Got this lucky wreck for $350 and a month of work later is fully refurbished running smoothly ..
I can hand shape ( grind ) Quartz and Agate to pleasing shapes.
I can't use Tumble polish because it destroys the shape.
Please help me understand what powder like talc etc
should I use on the leather spinner polish wheel to shine
my art stones like semiprecious stones in a store ??

Stone polishing compound it comes in diamond and other compound grits, you use it on the leather buffer.

Depending on the grit and use it comes in a stick a wax a cream and a powder you add water.
Here is a powder you mix with water and polish on a wheel.

Hey you! Nice toy (ahem, sophisticated tool) you have there.
AFAIK, progressively finer grit is the way to go (if you're not tumbling them) to getting that glossy shine. The best ones I've used, work on an orbital sander, so you may be able to use them in place of that buffer pad. Here's a link, but you might find them in store too.

Great to hear from you :)
Never knew of 12000 grit was en existing option, regular paper must be rougher !
The Highland Park mfg Co. that made my new tool has only600 grit discs.
But still looking for replacement leather buffer shammy like material ?
and sources for tripoli compound or what buffers use.
Decades ago I polished the edge of silicon semiconductors as a step to
measuring the depth of phosphine gas diffusion.

Did you notice that HP has the replacement leather buffers? They're not cheap though.
This other company has similar buffers and polishing compounds, but I haven't tried them, so I can't tell you what they're like.
The micromesh is pretty nice though. They'll polish acrylic (and other material) crystal clear.
