How can I replicate this? Answered

Particularly the display that says volts , I have no problem pushing the data to the numerical display but I have no idea how to go about making the light up display that says Volts.

LEDs and a mask with the word cut out. Add some sort of semitransparent diffuser material in the cut out to help light it evenly.

Never thought of using a mask; I'd normally print it out on paper and use a scroll saw to cut it out. Your idea sounds much Simpler !

A quick tip for the mask though, Try printing you design on an overhead transparency; just hit your local print shop. Leave the "Volt" transparent and the rest of the mask black ,@ maximum Toner thickness. Use spray glue on the toner side of the transparency, then add the coloring/diffuser layer as Bwrussell Sugested.

Good luck; Hope to see an Instructable when your done :D
