How can I stretch my leather chaps? Answered

I have some beautiful made-to-measure leather chaps, but they are too tight around the knee, which makes getting in the saddle difficult. Any ideas about how stretch them?

Maybe look in some shoe-repair or leatherworking articles to see what they do. Usually with a baseball glove or leather seat, the leather is lubricated with conditioning oil and you wrap and tie the glove around the ball to conform to it. Shoe stretchers and spring loaded things that keep constant pressure pushing out. I think that depends on your shoe getting sweaty from use and making it pliable. I don't think you would want to just wet the leather with water and then put a weight on it or stretch it while hanging. Maybe the people at the boot/saddle store can help out. Good luck.
