How could I access my website from my local server by typing a name like 'info.p' instead of the IP of the server on url Answered

Friends,I am a beginner in linux environment.I am hosting a website in LAN. But to access my website i need to type the server IP address on the url from other computers in the network. I want to make my website accessible on the network in such a way that from other computer connected to the LAN users need to just type a name instead of the IP address of the server.So please help me out...

create an alias and save it into your linux variant for what in Windows we'd call the "hosts" file. (off hand I'm not sure what it's called in linux)

hmm...a quick google search implies that linux also uses the "hosts" name to define it's equivalent file. see one such result here
