How do I edit the sketch of a stl file that has Certificate Trust File error? Answered

I am able to by-pass the error that says the file is Certificate Trust File, but in solidwirks I am unable to edit the sketch. I thought you just click on sketch and go from there, but that doesn't make the model go into sketch mode.

Thanks

Keep the sketch open.

Open a new file in Solidworks.

Go to the sketch and highlight then press Ctrl + C for copy. this will copy to your clipboard.

Go to the new file and paste by pressing Ctrl + V, to paste from clipboard.

I do this for all kinds of files that wont let me edit the original.

I copy in sketch and paste in MSword and a whole host of other programs this way.

iceng are you asking where the clipboard is?

The clipboard is part of your desk top, that is why I used keys and not the copy in the programs. Some programs have there own copy, so if you copy in their copy it won't paste in other programs.

Ctrl + C copies to the desk top clipboard from almost any program, and Ctrl + V pastes from the desk top clipboard to almost any program even programs that don't have copy and paste.

STL files are sketch files or am I thinking of something else?

At any rate you are opening it in Solidworks but can't edit it.

Select and copy as I said then paste in a new Solid works file or project and edit from there.
