How do I make a cheap automated drawer? Answered

I want to build a simple headboard for my bed and have a vertical drawer pop out from both left and right. How do I build an automated pop-out drawer, especially on a (relative) budget? I was thinking of having basic springs attached to the back of the drawers to push them out constantly, only to be kept closed by some locking mechanism that opens the drawer when stimulated by a switch.

Oh, you could build a door catch into the front panel, so you turn the handle to release the drawer to be pushed out by the spring, then it clicks into place when you push the drawer closed.

Maybe use a Yale type catch, and you can even lock the drawer (or leave the key in as a handle).
