How do I make a microphone based light organ that can makes christmas lights dance to highs, mids, or lows? Answered

I'm looking for an instructable that gives directions on how to make a light (color?) organ that I can plug christmas, rope, or any other light into and have them dance to either the Highs, mids, or lows of a song.

Is it possible to have 3 plugs that can be independently adjusted to listen to highs, mids, or lows?

Lastly, is it possible to switch between having the light always on and dim when it "hears" the music, and having the light off and turn on when it "hears" the music?

Where can I find such an instructable?

Forget all that, if you want a great color organ that is bullet proof and that has fuse protection go to www.colororgans.com . or www.magikgas.com I bought mine there and its the only heavy duty one that I know that works outdoors. I ran all the christmas lights on my house . I now use it for my outdoor lights on my patio for parties.

Its the best one I have seen

Here is a circuit that takes audio from a amplifier but could easily be converted
to work from a single mic.
The circuit separates the audio into 4 channels of light AC outlets.

The internal op-amp supply is the most basic there is,
any changes to the design can cause a supply problem even self destruction.
I would use a separate supply in place of D4,R7,C7 and C8...

You can find it right here,on the right side of the page, under "related"

That's the start anyway

The catch is we don't know whether your lights are mains powered or low voltage powered.

Yes, it would be possible to make the frequency bands adjustable, yes, it would be possible to invert the outputs.
