How do I trace/log software install on Mac? Answered

I need to install something from a dubious source on my Mac, and be able to remove it COMPLETELY including all system file changes and links.
Will Time Machine be enough to revert any changes?

If not, what is the best way to log all files written by the installer?
I thought of using lsof or opensnoop, but I'm not sure which is better for my needs.

Thanks!

K.I.S.S!

Don't install things from dubious sources. Even if you could track everything that installs, once it runs it could covertly install and/or create additional files that will cause you problems.

Yhea Don't take the chance

If you must, hit Craig's list and get a Door stop to run it on.

To be honest it's not THAT dubious... Several people I know use this software.

Besides, the same solution that works for monitoring the installer's activity, could be used later on the installed software.
