How do you make an Instructable?
I am baffled. How about someone making an Instructable on how to make an Instructable. I find the process ungainly and hardly
user friendly.

Well, I won't be actually making an instructable--but here is it in a nutshell:
- Make sure you've created a profile.
- Make sure you're signed into your profile.
- Go up to the top of the page and click 'Create.' That will open up a new page and you should either pick the 'photo,' 'step by step,' or 'video' option.
- Photos is good for a quick "show and tell" instructable. Basically you upload some photos and show how you build something in one fell-swoop.
- Step by step is a bit more involved. You post a title for your instructable first, "like how to build a teardrop trailer" (which I did), then you add some description of the main gist of the project as a whole.
- After that, you upload a photo that best represents your final project. This serves as the "cover" of your total instructable.
- Then you add steps, including each step photo and corresponding description.
- Then, you hit 'Save,' and then 'Publish' choose a category and other info about it.
- For a Video instructable, you can embed youtube, vimeo or other online video code into the instructable edit page, and it will show up as a video instructable.
Hope that helps! It's not too hard after your first one. Good luck!
