How do you use all of your ram? Answered

I can't use all of my 4 gigs of ram.

You could be using 2gb for your on-board video. Are you using a video card or on-board?

Also possible: windows uses superfetch to cache files/processes -- it speeds up day to day computer use but uses a pile of ram.

i don't know if i have a video card or on-board but my display adapters say that i have a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series

That's probably it - laptops generally share the ram between the main system and the GPU.

Are you sure your system is a 64 bit? There is a ram limit of 3.3 gig on a 32 bit system. Anything more than that will not be accessed.

Yeah, it wouldn't be cutting so low (below 2GB) if it were just the 32 bit problem.

Yes it is a 64 bit.
