How do you work out the wattage of an amp?
I made the Ruby amp by runoffgroove (http://www.runoffgroove.com/ruby.html) and it's hooked up to a pc speaker with an 8ohm impedance, how would I go about finding the output wattage?
And while you're at it if you have any amp-building knowledge to impart or good places to learn about amp circuits I'd appreciate it.

As you can tell from the answers below this isn't a cut and dried situation. There are different ways to measure or calculate the output power so=uch as RMS power or Music power

I reality the only way to be sure is to measure it external to the speakers.

I dunno. How about P = V^2/Z? Where V is RMS voltage across the speaker, and Z = 8 ohms, is its impedance.

When you burst a 10 watt speaker cone your amp output is 11 watts !

You can always do some load testing
