How much faux fur do you need to make the Where the Wild Things Are headpiece? Answered

 im 6ft tall and i used about 2 yards.  i had alot of scrap left over after making the hair but i ended up using them in other areas of the costume.

This should give you a fairly close estimate:

Four times 3.1415 times the square of the radius of the sphere

That gives you the surface area of a sphere, a rough approximation of the shape of a round head.
I would have used the symbolic mathematical formula but I couldn't figure out how to put symbols in the message box.
