How to clean a concrete hearth?
We're moving into a place with a non-functional fireplace and a stained hearth. I haven't touched it yet and have no idea what the stains are. A guess for the circular ones is wine or some other dark drink. Any ideas for a relatively non-toxic clean up?
It turns out a lot of it is wax.

From mild to wild, bleach, trisodium phosphate and muriatic acid.

I would start the mild at baking soda, Scotch-Brite Non-Scratch Scrub Sponges, and elbow grease...and possibly vinegar. No matter what, wear gloves.

i would go with the bleach for the wine/beer stain as well.
As always try on a small patch first.
