How to combine 2 audio signals from HDMI Answered

As I've known so far there aren't receivers that mix audio.
I want to mix 2 HDMI sources, lets say 1 is a PS4 and second is Xbox One, how would I mix them in 7.1? Mix the 2 audio sources into 1, is there a way of doing that? What is the simplest way.

I know that there are stereo mixers, but haven't heard of a HDMI one.

What is the simplest way of mixing both signals?

I think it might have something to do with modulating the signals, but I dont specifically know how modulators work.

For me I would play the HDMI signal through my PC, Use Audacity (free) to record it. Then play the second one and record it. Use audacity to mix both sound captures and output as you want.

Not that I know about. But your PC probably has an HDMI input on it.

No receiver but you can try so called audio inserters.
Usually they only have one HDI pass through with the option to mix RCA or optical audio signals in.
But there are some that offer two or more HDMI inputs.

You would need a dedicated mixer for this as HDMI is not just "some audio signal".
All is digital and in many cases you won't even have the same standards in use for both devices.
