How to get an audience on your blog? Answered

I'm trying to create a blog like lifehacker but which also features articles like this site and hackaday.com... etc. My problem is attracting a targeted audience. Perhaps by posting this I'm making a positive step forward and I'm aware that my blog is nothing new. I am trying to do something different though by posting links or making stories that are relevant to life, easy to create or help in some way.

I've gotten the inspiration to 'copy' after typing on a laptop I repaired that was quoted at $800 originally but ended up with a total cost of $1.93. There's an easier and cheaper way of doing things and if someone is doing that, I want to post it as well.

I like your blog, and maybe you might want to purchase the domain name, if it has not already been taken. Blogspot is great, but maybe because it is blogspot, some people might be "off'ed" by it.

I chose blogger because it was free. I know sites exist that let you have free domain hosting at the cost of ads, etc. I'm going to have to do something like that perhaps. The only thing that I don't agree with is the 1024mb upload limit on pictures, it's really preventing me from posting my own diy projects although I should just post them here.

hey thanks, I realized that it's way too early and hopefully I'll have a good article base before people start visiting. I am definitely taking your advice on joining Technorati and Google Analytics. I'll have to find a suitable domain.

Read problogger.net for good information on making your blog better. You don't have to be focusing on making money to find a lot of great information. The most important thing is writing good and original content. If your bog is good and has a niche then eventually the audience will follow. Consider using DIgg and StumbleUpon for some of your better content - but these often lead to a spike in traffic (sometimes too much for a host) and do not usually result in subscribers.

A little follow up after reading your posts... Consider getting your own domain. You can still use blogger to publish and manage the site. Use Technorati and tagging to help drive traffic. Add Google analytics to see where people are coming from, what they are searching for, and how many visitors you are getting. Write, write, write. It is early to expect many readers - the more you can provide - well, the more good quality and original content you can provide, the better. You're on the way!

Do a Google search on Twitching Eyelid and check out the 8th (I think) ranked site.

To save you the trouble:

It's a funny circumstance, but it should give you some ideas on how to generate traffic :)
